Rules and Guidelines


Attendance:
  • Be punctual for meetings.
  • DO NOT miss more than 5 meetings per semester unless reason for absence is approved by  student council officers.
  • Please notify officers of absence at least 3 days beforehand.
  • Meeting time: Naptime on Fridays
Participation:
  • Active participation and engagement during meetings (volunteer for tasks, chip in ideas, ask questions when in doubt, etc.)
  • DO NOT be afraid to speak up
  • If you don’t feel comfortable speaking up, feel free to message the officers
  • Participation of every member is recorded in a document available in the Student Council Google Drive folder.
  • President shall assign tasks for those who do not fulfill participation standards.
Deadlines:
  • Complete tasks on time.
  • Offenses (such as late work) will be recorded on a strike system.
  • 3 strikes warrants one session of community service for the administration.
  • Please notify officers of inability to complete the given task at least 3 days before hand.
  • Deadline extensions or reassignment will be determined by case.
Attitude:
  • Show respect for every member.
Application and Election:
  • Apply to be a member of Student Council through an online application form, which is posted on the IBST Student Council Facebook page and sent out via email. The form is open from mid July  ~ mid August. Class representatives will vary by grade (based on number of students in each class) and will be selected through application, review by the sponsor and officers, and selection.

  • Only students from incoming Grade 10-12 students can run for President and Vice President, while only students from incoming Grade 9-12 can run for Treasurer, Secretary, and Media Chief.
    The election for 
    President and Vice President is held at the end of the school year, while the elections for other officers take place in the beginning of the school year.
