2020/03/20 General guidelines for online makeup courses regarding COVID-19.

Dear IBST Parents and Students,

With the current situation regarding COVID-19 and the prospect of moving to online learning, we as a faculty wanted to let you know that we are prepared and will continue to provide an enriching education to your children, as well as emotional support, should the Taiwanese Government and Ministry of Education move to an online platform. Each grade level teacher will create online platform, ie, Edmodo, ALMA, Google Classroom, Zoom, etc.

Grades 9-12 faculty have decided on some general guidelines and students expectations:

  • Students and parents will find links to resources through the ALMA grading system

  • Students should expect roughly 30 minutes of work per subject area per school day

  • Students are expected to check their emails by 12:00 pm each school day

  • Academic honesty will be upheld and submitted work will be your own

What you can expect from us:

  • Weekly calendars with daily assignments and due dates

  • Advanced notice if assignments will be due in less than 24 hours from when assigned

  • Teachers will check and respond to emails in the morning, at lunch time, and in the afternoon on school days

  • Consideration for families who may have children sharing devices

  • Synchronous video sessions, if used, will be announced well in advance and will take place during regular class meeting time

For G1 to G8, your homeroom teacher will inform you when they their online platform are set.

Student safety and learning are still of the utmost importance to us as a faculty and we will do all that we can to support students and families during this time. While no announcement has been made, we felt it was best to assure students and families that we are prepared if it is decided that we will move to online learning.
